Easy-To-Read Version:
“The tongue can speak words that bring life or death. Those who love to talk must be ready to accept what it brings.”(Proverbs 18:21)
Amplified Version:
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words.”
Good News Translation:
“What you say can preserve life or destroy it; so you must accept the consequences of your words.”
Beloved, there is a similar adage in my language to today’s scripture, which says, words can bring out kolanut( which represents good things) and words can bring out sword( destruction)from its sheath. There is death and life in the power of your tongue depending on how you use it. Some, by their tongues, by the too free use of them, or falsehood they utter, are the cause of death to themselves and others; and some, by their silence, or by their prudent speech and prevalent intercession, secure or obtain life for themselves and others, so which category are you? The tongue is the instrument either of a great deal of good, or of a great deal of evil. When you use your tongue, whether in a good or in a bad way, you shall accordingly enjoy the advantages or disadvantages arising from it, because by the use of it comes the fruit, either good or bad, whatever you say have consequences and you must be ready to accept it. Use your tongue well, let your words be seasoned with grace to others, talk less, so that you will not expose yourself or others to dangers, be disciplined how you talk.
