New Living Translation:
“The Lord’s promises are pure, like silver refined in a furnace, purified seven times over.”(Psalms 12:6)
Good News Translation:
“The promises of the Lord can be trusted; they are as genuine as silver refined seven times in the furnace.”
Common English Bible:
“The LORD’s promises are pure, like silver that’s been refined in an oven, purified seven times over!”
New English Translation:
“The Lord’s words are absolutely reliable. They are as untainted as silver purified in a furnace on the ground, where it is thoroughly refined.”
Beloved, the words of man are vanity, flattery, and falsehood and no reliance could be placed on them. But the words of the Lord are pure, true, faithful and can be relied on. In God’s promises, there is safety and assurance, man can fail but God will never; Reliance could not be placed on the words of even the professedly "godly" and "faithful" man but entire confidence might be placed in the words of the living God. Man's words are yea and nay, but the Lord's promises are yea and amen. What are those promises He made to you, relax, be calm and know that He will not fail you, He will bring them to pass. The word "seven" in the Scriptures denotes a complete or perfect number, and is often used to denote frequency. The idea is that the process was repeated until the silver became entirely pure. The sense is, there is no falsehood in God’s statements; there is no deception in His promises; there is no flattery in what He says.
On the other hand, What God's words are, the words of His children should be. If we would be Godlike in conversation, we must watch our language, and maintain the strictest purity of integrity and holiness in all our communications.
