“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?”(Matthew 6:26)
Contemporary English Version:
“Look at the birds in the sky! They don't plant or harvest. They don't even store grain in barns. Yet your Father in heaven takes care of them. Aren't you worth much more than birds?”
Easy-To-Read Version:
“Look at the birds. They don’t plant, harvest, or save food in barns, but your heavenly Father feeds them. Don’t you know you are worth much more than they are?”
Beloved, God has given us life, and has given us the body. And what can he not do for us? The birds of the air have no anxiety about the supply of their wants; they do not sow or reap; they fill the grove with music, and meet the coming light of the morning with their songs, and pour their notes on the gentle wind of the evening, they are carefree and unanxious about the supply of their needs,yet, God feed them regularly and ministers to their unnumbered wants! Their necessities are supplied regularly and with cheerfulness.
How much more you! You are not a bird or animal, you are God’s child, made in His own image, more important and valuable than the birds. He will supply your needs both spiritual and temporal. Put your trust and confidence, then, in the living God who is your father. He will grant you strength to bear you up under your daily troubles, and He will arm you against the temptations that may come your way and nothing shall by any means shake you.
